Growing a pool service business rarely comes down to routes and chemistry alone. Somewhere between the second truck and the tenth employee, owners end up running a small business empire on the side: bookkeeping, marketing, software that has to talk to other software, customer trust, all while still being expected to know if pool 47's chlorine is holding. September's updates take on a handful of those problems directly.
Your bookkeeping handled by someone who knows pool service

Ask most pool service owners who handles their bookkeeping and the answer is often a shrug, a spouse's name, or a QuickBooks login nobody's opened in weeks. Skimmer bookkeeping is a new add-on that puts a real bookkeeper behind the software: someone who categorizes transactions and reconciles accounts, so the numbers stay current without an owner doing it themselves after hours.

Turning good service into new customers

Most pool service businesses don't have a marketing department, they have an owner doing marketing between service calls. Marketing Suite is built for that reality: automated email and SMS campaigns, review requests that turn happy customers into public reviews while catching unhappy ones privately first, and if you are on Skimmer Enterprise, ad tracking that ties Google and Meta spend to the revenue it actually produces.

Your account, all in sync

Pool service businesses tend to run on a patchwork of software: accounting, chemical ordering, automation tools, each with its own login and its own quirks. Skimmer's new integrations center brings that patchwork into one screen, covering QuickBooks Online, Heritage Pool Supply, Zapier, Orenda, and LaMotte Spin Touch, with API and webhook access for larger operations on Enterprise.
Reputation is more than what shows up on Google

A lot of service quality problems never make it to a public review, they just show up later as a canceled contract. Service feedback gives customers a way to rate an individual stop with one tap, right from the service email they already receive, so a pro gets a per-visit signal and an alert the moment someone's unhappy, before it turns into churn. Ratings stay private and don’t get posted anywhere. Also, a new service feedback report rolls those ratings up into one view instead of clicking through stops one at a time.

Visibility into the water, and into the business
Two updates this month are about catching problems before they become bigger ones.

- The new readings report shows the latest readings and dosages at every body of water and flags what's out of range, based on your readings & dosages office alerts, so you can spot what needs attention without clicking into every customer profile.
- On the business side, Skimmer now logs every change made to service rate information, giving you a full record of who changed a rate and when.
As always, make sure your team is running the latest version of the Skimmer mobile app, iOS or Android.
