Growing a pool service business usually means more tools, more customers, and more paperwork, not necessarily more time. October’s updates are aimed at cutting down the busywork that comes with that growth: connecting the apps you already rely on, automating marketing that used to take manual setup, and making it easier to see where your invoicing, pricing, and accounting actually stand. Here’s a look at what shipped.

‍

More ways to connect the tools you already use

‍

‍

A lot of pool service businesses run on more than just Skimmer, whether that’s a payment processor, a CRM, or a calendar app, and keeping all of it in sync has traditionally meant manual data entry. The redesigned integrations center now brings built-in and marketplace integrations together in one place, with a guided setup wizard for connecting new ones. This month’s new marketplace integrations include FieldPay, which sends completed route stops and work orders over automatically for payout approval, and Google Calendar, which can turn calendar events into work orders and send customers invites for new ones. Four CRM integrations, GoHighLevel, HubSpot, Nutshell, and Zoho CRM, also joined the marketplace, each one keeping contacts in sync so the same customer doesn’t have to be entered twice. Behind the scenes, every webhook now includes the event type and timestamp, so the tools on the other end of your integrations can act on that data automatically.

More automation with your marketing

‍

Marketing automation tends to fall by the wayside for busy pool service companies, mostly because setting it up takes time most owners don’t have. Skimmer’s marketing suite now lets you describe the automation or audience segment you want in plain language and builds it for you, right from your own Skimmer data. You can see what you’ve built versus what Skimmer manages at a glance, campaign emails and texts now show up in each customer’s activity log, and customers can manage their own text marketing consent from the customer portal. The goal is marketing that runs in the background instead of another task on your list.

‍

A clearer picture of your pricing compared to your competitors

‍

‍

Knowing whether your rates are competitive, or whether your books reflect what you actually owe, usually means piecing together information from a few different places. The new service rate benchmarks report compares your service rates against other pool service companies in your area and flags where you might be pricing below the median, without exposing anyone’s individual numbers (owners, admins, and executives see it by default, other roles need permission).

Invoicing that keeps up with a growing customer list

‍

‍

The more customers you add, the more invoicing tends to slow down, whether that’s printing a stack of invoices one at a time or waiting on a page to load at month-end. Bulk print now lets you select multiple invoices or quotes and print them together in a cleaner layout, and the invoice generator loads reliably even for companies with a lot of route stops.

You can also offer net 10 as a payment due option, and target invoice runs more precisely using the same filters as the customers page.

‍

A few more quick updates

  • For Skimmer Bookkeeping customers, working capital draws now create their own loan record with repayments tracked against the right draw, so your balance sheet matches reality.
  • Login security also got tighter this month: Skimmer now flags unusual logins, like a new device or a long stretch away, and emails a verification code to confirm it’s really you.
  • What used to be called service reviews is now service feedback everywhere in Skimmer, to make clear these are private ratings, not public reviews.
  • AI phone notification emails now show call times in your company’s time zone, and the AI phone page shows a heading above its tabs when it’s active.
  • Voided payments now show up on the payouts report as a negative line item, same as a standard refund, starting with this release.
  • The “back” link on a customer profile now takes you back to wherever you came from, even after you’ve clicked into other pages on that profile.
  • Picking a customer on a Heritage order now shows the overdue invoices icon and count right next to the clear button.
  • The public API now lets you filter invoice searches by payment status as well as invoice status.

‍

Every update this month points toward the same thing: less manual work, more visibility into how the business is actually running. We’ll be back in November with more.

IMPORTANT NOTE: The Skimmer mobile app now requires version 12.16 or later. Update before your next sign-in to avoid any interruptions.
